Dimitiri's - A cruisers' paradise (Zakynthos)

9th July 2020 (Zante)

We are moored up in the realm of the generous Dimitiri in the little quay at Agios Nikolaos in Zakinthos. Having been welcomed by our smiling charming host 2 days ago, we were told that we can ‘stay as long as you like’, ‘water and electric are free’, ‘come to my restaurant if you wish’. It’s a cruisers paradise!

This morning we got early new neighbours - Nick and Jemma, a nice young couple from UK/Spain respectively. After we got chatting, they said Dimitri had offered one of his boats for us to use to visit the local blue caves... sure enough, not half and hour after meeting them, the four of us were heading off in Dimitri’s runaround across turquoise waters.

The caves - a magnet for small tripper boats, were relatively quiet, and finding a suitable spot, we tied to a morning buoy and snorkelled around for a while. It was lovely, but nothing spectacular compared to sites I’ve swam before both here in Greece and back home in Australia. I was peer pressured into a jump from a highish diving platform by some good natured coaxing from Nick and Chez, and I’d have to say thoroughly enjoyed it. Headed back, and I'm now lazing around after helping Chez do some clothes and bedding washing in the free water (free but very salty... wouldn’t like to drink it!)

Edit: We stayed a week at Dimitris... lovely guy, with a great setup, made friends with some nice Germans (Wolfgang on Black Dream) and Italians, lots of lazing around, a bit of swimming and a lot of Tik Tok It’s currently full of videos of people either being harassed, or harassing the police, and ‘Karen’ videos of angry middle aged white ladies shouting.
